Training in Rome

In the framework of the EU co-funded project RecoASIA, an in-presence three-day training has been organized in Rome, at LUISS university premises.

The training was targeted at staff of competent authorities, Higher Education Institutions and National Information Centres of partner countries.

From 27th to 29th September 2023 several subjects have been discussed: policies in the institutional contexts in the field of internationalization of higher education and recognition, with a focus on topics such as substantial differences, recognition related to academic qualifications and double degrees procedures.

In the last day of training, participants from Higher Education Institutions and Ministries and NARIC centres were engaged in two different sessions. The former group participated in two laboratories about identifying elements and requirements for an institutional guideline on the recognition of qualifications and credit mobility, the latter discussed practical approach to recognition of qualifications and fraud detection and verification of authenticity of qualifications, both based on real cases.

Cycle of training meetings on the role of NICs and recognition of qualifications (WP2)

These meetings, held online in the period from 11th November and 4th December 2020, were addressed to RecoASIA National Information Centres and aimed at strengthening the capacities of the NICs in dealing with academic recognition. After Credential evaluators from CIMEA and HARNO presented their experiences and models , the meetings focused on the application process, documentation, role of NIC and HEI in the application process, general assessment procedures, resources and assessment tools.

More than 40 officers and experts from the partner Countries followed the meetings and joined the discussion.

Online training to reinforce competencies on the internationalisation of higher education (WP4)

The online training was included in the Work Package 4 of the project: Reinforce competencies on the internationalisation of higher education; it was addressed to higher education institutions involved in the RecoASIA project. More than 90 officers and experts from 9 RecoASIA partner higher education institutions successfully completed the training by providing good quality assignments about their national education system.

The online training (4th June 2020 – 4th September 2020), was articulated in 3 modules:

  • MODULE 1 – Understanding higher education systems, including the main characteristics and categories of Higher Education institutions in different contexts; the nature and the core elements of a qualification starting from the analysis of the awarding institution.
  • MODULE 2 – Recognition procedures, with a focus on academic recognition procedures, the Lisbon Convention and the Tokyo convention and the documents needed.
  • MODULE 3 – Joint programmes and recognition issues of each institutions.

Online training to reinforce the role and the activities of NICs at governmental level (WP2)

The online training was included in the Work Package 2 of the project: Reinforce the role and the activities of National Information Centres (NIC) at governmental level; it was addressed to RecoASIA Ministries and NICs. 35 officers and experts from 5 RecoASIA partner NICs and associate partners participated and successfully completed it.

The online training (4th June 2020 – 4th September 2020), was composed by 3 modules:

  • MODULE 1 – Understanding higher education systems, including their historical origins and how they have influenced educational terminology still in use today; the main characteristics and categories of Higher Education institutions in different contexts; the core elements characterising qualifications and qualification frameworks.
  • MODULE 2 – Recognition procedures, including both academic and professional recognition procedures, the Lisbon Convention and the Tokyo convention, the documents needed and the resources available to support recognition procedures.
  • MODULE 3 – How to create/manage an efficient national recognition centre in line with international practices.
